Samsung responds to accusations of deliberately slowing down Android apps

Samsung doesn’t deliberately slow down non-game Android apps, contrary to claims by some users.

Samsung recently came under fire after reports surfaced that the South Korean giant was deliberately slowing down non-gaming Android apps. This was “discovered”after users manually changed the package names of non-gaming apps and saw a real difference.

The South Korean giant has since responded to those allegations with a public statement. In particular, we can read the following: “Our priority is to offer users the best mobile experience. The Game Optimization Service (GOS) was thought and developed to help gaming applications achieve high performance while maintaining device temperature. GOS does not affect the performance of non-gaming applications in any way.”

And if this accusation has become so significant, it is because this is not the first time, unfortunately, smartphone manufacturers, and not only Android, have been accused of deliberately slowing down their devices. While there could be many reasons for this, many of which have already been mentioned in recent years, the lack of communication and transparency could clearly explain why pills don’t work today.

Samsung also said it intends to release an update that will give users more control. “We value feedback on our products and, after carefully reviewing it, we have decided to release an update soon that will allow users to control performance during the game.”
