Santa Monica confirms God of War Ragnarok will release in 2022

Studio Santa Monica recently updated their Twitter bio in order to seemingly confirm that God of War Ragnarok is still on track for release in 2022. With all the news of major game delays, it looks like Santa Monica Studios is still hoping to release their greatest opus within a year.

God of War Ragnarok is arguably one of the most anticipated games of the past few years and is the sequel to the 2018 soft reboot of the series. The 2018 game received widespread critical acclaim and is considered one of the best games of the last generation.

News of the sequel came sooner than expected as PlayStation Studios revealed God of War Ragnarok at the end of the 2020 PS5 Reveal Event. The game was previously scheduled for release in 2021, but has been delayed until 2022, where it currently appears to be on schedule.

Santa Monica Studios claims God of War Ragnarok will release in 2022

God of War Ragnarok and Santa Monica Studios have caused a bit of a buzz in the gaming community with the news that the upcoming game will be released across generations. This means that the game will be available on both the latest generation of consoles and current generation consoles.

Many felt that the hardware limitations of the latest generation of consoles would hold back development, preventing the game from becoming a true next generation experience. However, many were happy to know that they would still be able to play the game as it is still difficult to get a PlayStation 5.

As the 2018 game solidified its status as a modern classic, expectations for the upcoming game couldn’t be higher. God of War Ragnarok is currently scheduled for release in 2022, but a specific release window has yet to be confirmed.
