Based on two series of Grishaverse novels by Lee Bardugo, namely the Shadow and Bone trilogy (2012-2014) and the Six Crows duology (2015-2016), the Shadow and Bone television series is set during the war. A torn world where humble soldier and orphan Alina Starkov, played by Jessie Mei Li, has just unleashed an incredible power that could be the key to her country’s liberation. Faced with the monstrous threat of the Shadow Canyon, Alina breaks away from everything she knows to train with an elite army of magical soldiers, Grisha. But as she strives to perfect her power, she discovers that her allies and enemies can be the same, and everything in this bountiful world is not what it seems.

Season 2 of Shadows and Bones will feature new characters including Lewis Tang (Mortal Kombat), Anna Leong Brophy (Footprints), and Jack Wolfe (The Witcher), joined by existing cast members such as Archie Renault (Mallien “Mel”Oretsev), Bean Barnes (General Alexander Kirigan/Temnyak), Daisy Head, Freddie Carter, Amita Suman, Keith Young, Ben Barnes, Danielle Galligan and Calahan Skogman.

The teaser for the second season of Shadow and Bone begins with Patrick Gibson, as Nikolai Lantsov, telling comedian Jesse May Li’s character, “You’re a symbol.”Alina Starkova clarifies the situation by adding: “I am the Summoner of the Sun.”

The second season of Shadow and Bone will premiere next year on Netflix.
