Silent Hill: Christophe Gans Announces Movie Reboot

Silent Hill: Christophe Gans Announces Movie Reboot

The new film Silent Hill, directed by Christoph Gans and directed by Konami, will hit theaters next year.

Involved in 2006 in the production of the first film adaptation of Silent Hill, so far recognized as the most faithful and honest, Christoph Hans will once again collaborate with the Japanese publisher Konami to bring the famous Survival-horror to the big screen. I am currently working on this. There were years of Covid-19 that finally forced us to stay at home. I took the opportunity to write two scripts. A script for a new Silent Hill movie that is completely independent from the previous two movies and follows the path of Silent Hill. Most of the time, these are isolated stories. Silent Hill is a bit like the Twilight Zone, the Fourth Dimension, a place where anything and everything can happen.

For this new Silent Hill film, Christoph Gans wanted to draw inspiration from the new terrifying moves: “This is Silent Hill for today’s audience, which is very respectful of the saga. I know that Silent Hill is a great video game franchise and a work of art in the noblest sense of the word. The people who thought about Silent Hill put a lot of their courage into it. To know them well, they are extremely honest people. It was important for me to develop Silent Hill in the light of the current audience. It is clear that today’s horror cinema is no longer similar to the horror cinema of 2006. Okay, if it comes to that. Not that the horror movies of 2007 were bad, but every genre is evolving. I’m trying to take into account what I’ve seen recently, which is more original and surprising in terms of horror films, and see is there any germ in Silent Hill or even an expression of it. Silent Hill has always been a game that goes beyond the norm and is ahead of its time.”

A Project Zero/Fatal Frame film is also in the works.

In addition to the Konami deal, Christoph Gans also approached Koei Tecmo to work on a Project Zero/Fatal Frame adaptation due in 2024: “I’m interested in reaching a balance point between video games and movies. I’m not saying that the first part of Silent Hill was a complete success for me, but the film was quite well received by the fans. However, they are relatively demanding. I think they understood that the film was made by a gamer, but above all that I was trying to find a convergence point between cinematic and video game languages. That’s how I worked on the script for the new Silent Hill, and also on Fatal Frame, Project Zero for us Europeans. This will be the next movie. By the way, the script is ready.
