Next Mac Pro with M2 up to 48 cores? A beast of strength to meet all needs.

Among the new computers that the Apple brand plans to tease in the coming months, we’ll find, according to Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman, a variant of the Mac Pro M2. In his latest Power On newsletter, the journalist reports that the Cupertino-based company has been testing a version of its high-performance machine for some time, equipped with a chip with a 24-core CPU and a 76-core GPU, supported by no less than 192GB of memory.

Mark Gurman even predicts that Apple may allow customers to choose between two different chips when customizing the beast. While the journalist calls it “M2 Ultra”and “M2 Extreme”.

“I believe the Mac Pro will be offered in multiple flavors with 24- or 48-core processors and 76- or 152-core GPUs, all with a maximum of 256GB of memory,” he writes. Mark Gurman adds that these chips will be “at least 2 to 4 times more powerful than the M2 Max chip,”a processor that Apple has yet to announce. By comparison, the base M2 chip has an 8-core CPU and a 10-core GPU. The upcoming M2 Max chip, meanwhile, should have a 12-core CPU and a 38-core GPU.

Before this new Mac Pro, Mark Gurman expects the Cupertino-based company to announce improved versions of its 14-inch and 16-inch MacBook Pros, as well as a new Mac mini. The brand’s latest high-end laptops will ship with the new M2 Pro and M2 Max chips, while the Mac mini will use the same M2 chip as the 2022 MacBook Air, he said. The American journalist also explains that Apple conducted internal testing. a Mac mini variant of the M2 Pro, but it’s not specified if it’s going to sell such a version. These devices are expected to arrive in the coming months.
