Sony Interactive Entertainment acquires Bungie

Bungie joins the PlayStation family from Japanese publisher Sony.

Bungie, creator of Halo and Destiny, has been acquired by Sony Interactive Entertainment for $3.6 billion. The American studio, led by a board of directors chaired by Pete Parsons and the current management team, will not be directly affiliated with PlayStation Studio and will continue to operate independently while maintaining self-publishing capability. This acquisition will give SIE access to Bungie’s first-class approach to online gaming services and technology experiences that will reach billions of gamers over the next few years.
