Sony PlayStation VR2 with 4K HDR, 110-degree field of view announced alongside Horizon Call of the Mountain VR

After months of speculation, whispering and rumors, PlayStation has finally confirmed the PS VR2 along with the announcement of its exit from the Horizon franchise. PlayStation introduced a controller for the VR system, dubbed the PlayStation VR2 Sense Controller, early last year, and now fans have finally received detailed information about the type of hardware that comes with the PS VR2.

In this generation of PlayStation consoles, immersion has been the focus, and to that end, PS VR2 will offer 4K HDR, a 110-degree field of view, and an OLED display with a screen resolution of 2000×2040 per eye and smooth frame rates up to 90/120Hz. PS VR2 controllers will take advantage of new haptic feedback technology and DualSense adaptive triggers to deliver the most intuitive experience possible.

Horizon Call of the Mountain for PlayStation VR 2

A console is only as good as the games you can play on it, and for VR 2, it looks like PlayStation has a lot going for it. Horizon Forbidden West will launch in 2022, but that’s not the only Horizon content players are looking forward to. Developed exclusively for PS VR 2, Horizon Call of the Mountain will put players in the shoes of a brand new character from the Horizon franchise.

PlayStation is still tight-lipped about the details of the new game, but promotion will likely begin after the launch of Horizon Forbidden West. The game was developed by the Firesprite team.
