Twitch co-founder Emmet Scheer steps down as CEO. Dan Clancy now holds this position.
After 16 years of dedicated service at Twitch, co-founder Emmet Scheer has decided to step down as CEO. Emmet Shear has been in business since the company’s inception, when the platform was still called Justin.tv and was just a live streaming site designed to host a 24/7 reality show about the life of its co-founder Justin Kahn. As the company began turning the burgeoning gaming category into a full-fledged brand, Twitch was born.

Emmet Shear oversaw the entire delicate transition, from the $970 million acquisition of Amazon in 2014 to today. From now on, he explains that fatherhood prompted him to leave his leadership role to another. “I want to be able to be fully present when my son enters this world,” he wrote in his farewell post. “I will continue to work on Twitch as a consultant.”
Dan Clancy is now in position
Dan Clancy will become CEO. Dan Clancy, hired in 2019 as VP of Creator and Community Affairs, quickly became President of Twitch. When streaming partners raised concerns about Twitch’s revenue sharing with creators, it was Dan Clancy who settled the matter, explaining in a letter to streamers that the split would remain at 50/50 and 70/30 for premium, like the biggest stars on the planet. new restrictions will be introduced.
