Special Operations Call Of Duty Modern Warfare 2 (explained)
The recent launch of Call Of Duty Modern Warfare 2 includes a wide range of new game modes, mechanics and maps. At the same time, there are game modes that are repeated from the previous parts. This includes Spec Ops or Special Ops, which were first introduced in Modern Warfare (2019). But Infinity Ward has made a lot of changes to improve and evolve its gameplay. So, check out our guide to learn all about Spec Ops in COD Modern Warfare (MW) 2.
What is Spec Ops in Call of Duty Modern Warfare 2
Spec Ops or Special Ops is the co-op campaign mode in Modern Warfare 2. This game mode revolves around war-torn regions as players complete multiple objectives. But those goals or missions keep changing. So, you need to keep experimenting with your play style. While some missions will require you to capture information about the enemy, some will require you to destroy various targets.
When you start with this, you will initially get three Spec Ops missions. These missions will take place in the Al Mazra area and they are as follows:
low profile
For this mission, you need to infiltrate the city at night in order to uncover information and evidence from Al-Qatala. You need to collect both of them before escaping the region. As the mission suggests, you need to keep a low profile and be secretive.
restricted area
Several SAM turrets have been placed to prevent reinforcements from entering the region. You need to use a vehicle to navigate the streets and destroy them. Once you’ve eliminated them all, run to the plane of exile to escape the forces.
Defender: Mount Zaya in Modern Warfare 2
You need to protect the observatory from various waves of enemies who are planning to detonate bombs. For each wave, you can spend money on armor plates, self-healing kits, and more.
Backpack and equipment in Spec Ops
In addition to these new missions, Spec Ops also introduced several other gameplay elements. This includes a backpack that can be used to store various types of gear and kits. Just like in multiplayer mode, you can use kits for numerous benefits. All three sets featured in Spec Ops are listed below:
- Assault: This set focuses on strengthening armor through the Armor Box upgrade.
- Medic: This set focuses on quick revives with the Revive Field upgrade for instant ranged revives.
- Scouting: Better use of equipment with Immediate Impulse field upgrade to see opponents nearby.
You can level these sets up to level 5 by earning stars through missions and challenges. As a result, you can replay the above three missions many times.
