Stalker 2: Heart of Chernobyl will be released in 2023
GSC Game World hopes to release Stalker 2: Heart of Chornobyl next year. The studio revealed this new launch window in a trailer it recently unveiled as part of the Microsoft Xbox Games Showcase Extended event. Until now, GSC had planned to release the game before the end of the year, but meeting this date has become increasingly difficult, especially after the company had to suspend development due to the Russian invasion of Ukraine.
Studio GSC had to face many difficulties
Fans took notice of this new launch window when the Redmond-based company released an update to Xbox Game Pass during the Xbox and Bethesda showcase this Sunday. “This happened a little earlier than we expected, we wanted to announce it in the coming days,”a spokesman for GSC Game World told PC Gamer on Monday. “But yes, the game is now scheduled for 2023.”
In addition to the brand new trailer, the studio has also released a new video blog detailing some of the hardships its teams have had to face since the invasion of Ukraine began. GSC recently resumed work on Stalker 2 after relocating some of its staff to Prague. The studio also changed the subtitle from “Heart of Chernobyl”to “Heart of Chernobyl”to reflect the Ukrainian spelling of the site of the horrific 1986 nuclear disaster.
