StatusMagic allows you to customize the status bar without jailbreak via TrollStore or MacDirtyCow
Jailbreaks are hard to find these days, which is why so many people are currently using TrollStore on iOS 14.0-15.4.1 (and some 15.5 and 15.6 betas) or MacDirtyCow bug (on iOS 15.0-16.1.2) to enjoy a subset of must-have system mods.
One area of the iOS mobile operating system where people like to personalize is the status bar, and even if you haven’t jailbroken the system, you can use TrollStore or MacDirtyCow to use iOS developer Avangelista’s new StatusMagic app.
As stated on the project’s GitHub page, StatusMagic allows the end user to:
- Change media text
- Change clock text
- Change breadcrumb link text
- Leave the above texts blank
- Hide the icons you don’t like in the status bar, for example:
- Time
- Do not disturb icon
- Airplane mode icon
- Cell bars
- WiFi bars
- battery icon
- bluetooth icon
- alarm clock icon
- location icon
- Turn lock icon
- And a few others…
While many MacDirtyCow errors clear up after a reboot, this is not the case with StatusMagic. According to the developer, the changes are fully preserved even after rebooting the device, which is actually quite nice, as it gives the feeling of an unattached mod. Not so bad if you don’t have a jailbreak!
StatusMagic is supplied as a file. ipa (applications), which you can download in any way convenient for you. If you are using iOS 14, it is recommended to use TrollStore because the app will remain permanently signed. If you’re on iOS 15.0-15.4.1 (or some 15.5 or 15.6 betas), TrollStore is recommended, but you can also use AltStore and Sideloady if you don’t want your app signed permanently. If you’re running iOS 15.5-16.1.2 you have no choice but to use AltStore or Sideloady and the MacDirtyCow bug will do the rest.
The non-jailbreak StatusMagic app is actually quite powerful and offers features that I’ve only ever seen in jailbreak settings in the past. With that in mind, if you’re interested in customizing this aspect of iOS, I’d recommend giving this app a try.
