Steam Deck: Valve will provide the first shipments

Production of the handheld console gaming PC from American publisher Valve is accelerating, with first shipments expected in the coming weeks.

While Valve’s statement should be positive for many players, it still opens the door for a potential second last-minute delay: “Steam deck shipments will begin right on schedule. Despite the global pandemic and supply and routing issues, it looks like we will be able to start shipping as early as the end of February next year.”

Steam Deck Compatibility Categories

For several months now, Valve has continuously reviewed the Steam Catalog’s compatibility with the Steam Deck: “The Steam Deck Verified program is ongoing and testing, and soon you will see the Steam Deck Compatibility Label for more and more games. These tests focus on four main categories, namely input, gameplay smoothness, display, and system support. In order for development teams to get that precious green icon, it was also important to give them the opportunity to test their games. That’s why we sent a lot of development kits. We have just approved a new wave of kits. Hundreds have already been delivered last month and we will continue to ship more. Thanks to all the teams for your patience!”
