There is a mod for this game, and as the mod’s description suggests, it allows you to play the game with your friends. How to play a multiplayer game on Stray

You can play multiplayer in this game by pressing F9 in the main menu after installing the Splitscreen mod. The creator of this mod designed it in such a way that you can use your keyboard + mouse with a controller to play the game with your friends.

1. Install the Split Screen mod.
2. Run UnrealModLoader.exe and Stray. You should have UnrealModLoader installed, we will check the steps to install this mod a bit.
3. From the main menu of the game, press the F9 key on your keyboard to add another player.
4. After adding a second player, both players can play the game together. You can also add more than 1 player.

How to install split screen mod

1. Download the necessary Splitscreen and Splitscreen configuration files. You can find them on the mod page.
2. Extract the two files and you should end up with SplitScreenMod.pak and SplitScreenRequiredConfig_P.pak files.
3. Install the SplitScreenRequiredConfig_P.pak file to this location: C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\Stray\Hk_project\Content\Paks\.
4. Then download and extract the latest version of UnrealModLoader. The version listed with the mod at the time of this writing is v2.2.0a, so make sure it’s one or the other above.
5. Now go to the Paks folder and create a new folder named LogicMods. Make sure you don’t change the capitalization or spelling of this folder.
6. Copy SplitScreenMod.pak and paste it into this new folder.
7. That’s all you need to do to install this mod on Stray.

Split screen modification limitations in Stray

While this is a very interesting and enjoyable mod, it does have some limitations that you should be aware of.

• No HUD for other players: Unfortunately, in the current state of the mod, only player 1 can see the HUD. So other players will have to play without it.
• Glitches: This mod is not yet perfected, so there may be areas where you will encounter visual glitches.
• Instability when adding many players: This mod will allow you to add more than 1 player, but there is no guarantee how well the game will handle it.

But even though this mod may have flaws, mod creator KangieDanie has stated that it is under development. And the best part is that they are working on fixing bugs.

At the time of this writing, this mod was only available for local co-op. So for now, you won’t be able to play online with your friends. But according to the creator, there may be online functionality in the future. They also fix bugs and update the same. For example, you won’t run into the problem of managing a keyboard and controller on the same screen with a recent bug fix. Some of the other known issues the creator is working on include. A bug due to which you cannot use two controllers, why only the keyboard is enabled and some parts of the gameplay are buggy.
