Swift Playgrounds 4 lets developers build apps on their iPads

Swift Playgrounds 4 lets you develop apps right on your iPad, so you can code anywhere, anytime.

If you wanted to use Apple’s Swift Playgrounds software to develop apps for iOS devices, you needed a Mac to do it – although there were obviously other ways to develop apps. At the same time, those who are often on the road or roam do not necessarily have a MacBook. Cupertino offers a solution.

Swift Playgrounds 4 lets you develop apps right on the iPad.

Indeed, the Apple brand recently released Swift Playgrounds 4, an app for iPad and Mac. With this latest version of Swift Playgrounds, users will now be able to design and build apps with their iPad and submit them to Apple right from the tablet. Thus, it will no longer be necessary to use a Mac computer in this process.

Encode everywhere all the time

Here’s an update that should come in handy for developers who have an iPad around more often than a MacBook, whether it’s Air or Pro. Or for developers who have an iPad and want to code a little right now before they go home or to the office and find their Mac. It’s finally possible to code for iOS all the time!

Swift Playgrounds 4 was announced during WWDC 2021 a few months ago, but its launch has been delayed until today. For developers interested in this app, just download and install the latest version as usual directly from the App Store. Please note: You must have an iPad running iPadOS 15.2 or later. If your tablet has an older version, it needs to be updated. And if it doesn’t meet the requirements, you won’t be able to use Swift Playgrounds 4.
