T2, another Twitter alternative from former platform employees
T2 is another alternative to Twitter. She was able to get the attention of a former certified Twitter user.
Today, with Elon Musk revoking certification from thousands of Twitter users who got that blue tick under the old leadership, a new alternative platform is looking to lure them in. T2, currently available by invitation only, is a service created by two former Twitter employees. This platform promises to provide Twitter certification to users who broadcast their services.
T2 is another alternative to Twitter.
T2 is added to the list of alternatives that are already well represented and in full evolution since Elon Musk’s takeover. The platform is smaller than others much more famous, like Mastodon, but it aims to recreate the “public space,” as Twitter was often called before the arrival of Elon Musk. Its founder, Gabor Celle, was very clear: he wants to create “a direct copy of Twitter with some simplifications”and not an entirely new experience.
So it’s not surprising that the site, which is currently called T2 – but that may change in the future – is launching a “Get a Checkmark”feature that will build on Twitter’s old certification program. With the latter, users will be able to fill out a simple form to complete the T2 certification process. This feature will also be available to those on the T2 waitlist.
And she can wink at the graduates of Twitter
And since the old Twitter certification is no more, T2 plans to offer certification in other ways. Form T2 certification will not work for those who have paid for the new blue Twitter tick.
Along with these new certification features, T2 is also announcing other important information. The company has hired a former Discord executive as its new CTO and is working on a deep redesign that should be familiar to Twitter users.
Like all new Twitter competitors, T2 still has a long way to go if it wants to grow to the size of the platform it’s trying to copy. But as Mastodon CEO and founder Evgeny Rochko explained, the most influential Twitter users — for example, those with older certifications — are incredibly valuable for any platform getting started. If T2 manages to attract more users, it could pave the way for its main goal! To be continued!
