Now, for the first time, you can watch all the Star Trek movies in 4K HDR.

For the first time, you can buy or rent every Star Trek movie in the latest 4K and HDR standards. This includes all six films based on the original series, all four featuring The Next Generation cast, and more recent JJ Abrams films.

Paramount released an UltraHD Blu-ray set on April 4, which included Star Trek: Generations, Star Trek: First Contact, Star Trek: Insurrection, and Star Trek: Retribution, as well as several special features. The set marks the first time these films have been available on a 4K and HDR home video release. Along with Blu-ray, movies have also become available from on-demand stores such as the Apple TV app.

So this week, all 13 Star Trek movies released in theaters are finally available in 4K and HDR. The latest releases also support the Dolby Atmos audio standard in addition to Dolby Vision HDR.

However, most of the classic Trek TV series isn’t even available in HD, let alone 4K or HDR. All three seasons of The Original Series and all seven of The Next Generation have been released on Blu-ray and digital HD in recent years, as well as Enterprise and The Animated Series, and all new Paramount+ shows are in HD. But Deep Space Nine and Voyager are still only available in standard definition.

A documentary about Deep Space Nine released a couple of years ago showed small segments upscaled to HD to show what might be possible, and there were fan projects that did the same with AI. However, there hasn’t been much progress in the official scaling project for the full series.
