Terraria: how to build a house
If you are familiar with Minecraft, then you already know how to do it. Collect resources, build a shelter for the night and withstand the onslaught of monsters until dawn. But a shelter is not considered a home. You can build walls around you and you’re done. But you will need a home for the NPCs. In Terraria, a building can only be considered a home if it meets the requirements of the Home Suitability Assessment section. It consists of three parts: Frame, Furniture and Properties.
Frame:
The interior background of the house should be covered with elaborate tiles. These tiles must be connected to each of its 8 sides – horizontally, vertically and diagonally. The frame refers to the walls bordering these tiles. The frame must be completely closed so that none of the inner tiles are connected to the outer tiles. To build a frame, you can use solid blocks, doors, hatches and high gates. If you want to build a window, use glass walls. If you leave a hole in the tile, enemies may appear in the house.
Furniture:
Your structure must have certain furniture in order to qualify as a house. There must be at least one valid light source, one valid flat surface item, one valid comfort item, and one valid input. The most basic things you can use are a torch, a workbench, a chair, and two wooden platforms in that order.
Characteristics:
In addition to the frame and furniture, you have to be careful where you build your house. The house can be rejected for the following reasons: it is already occupied by an NPC or is next to an evil biome.

How big should a house be in Terraria

The light source can be a torch, a candle, a lantern, or any other lighting object in the game. It is not necessary to completely illuminate the room. One source of light will be enough, but it’s up to you to decorate the place. Tables, chests of drawers, bookcases, pianos, workbenches, or even bathtubs are all considered flat-topped items. A comfort item can be anything an NPC can sit on. This includes an armchair, a sofa, a bed and even a toilet. NPCs cannot stand on the platforms and will need a solid block floor. The last thing to keep in mind is to build a house away from the Crimson and Corruption biome. They add to the evil rating of the house. Home Building Tips
- Use NPC portraits to assign rooms to specific villagers. The golden border means that the NPC will always return to this room if they die and respawn in the game. Whereas a red border means the NPC can leave if they die.
- Terraria has a variety of materials for building a house. Combine them with stones or bricks for an aesthetic look.
