The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom relies on the imagination and creativity of the players.
Eiji Aonuma demonstrates Link’s new abilities in The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom, exclusive to Nintendo Switch.
Expected to release May 12 exclusively on Nintendo Switch, The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom will take players back to a familiar land, the vast world of Hyrule, but with new secrets like the sky islands. In this new adventure that promises to be darker than The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild, Link will notably have a new set of abilities to use in exploration and combat.
- The first new ability is Flashback: Link can trace the course of events regarding specific objects in the world of Hyrule. This allows, for example, to change the trajectory of a large stone that has fallen from a sky island in order to turn it into a makeshift elevator to a floating area.
- The second new ability is Fusion: Link can combine weapons with other weapons, as well as various other items, to create new weapons with unique effects. For example, a pitchfork can be combined with a stick to create an incredibly long and sharp weapon, or a stick and stone fusing can create a hammer-like object.
- The third new ability is Grip: Link can create vehicles from various items found in Hyrule. For example, by combining logs with two fans, you can explore the open world of Tears of the Kingdom by boat and cross a body of water. It is also possible to create a wheeled vehicle that looks like a car and one that flies through the sky.
- The fourth new ability is Penetration: Link can go through the ceiling above him and exit on the other side. With it, you can reach the top of the mountains without having to carefully climb them, while maintaining your stamina.
