2023 will be an important year for Riot Games and League of Legends. At least three new games have been announced.

2023 should be an important year for Riot Games and League of Legends fans. The studio has just announced not one, not two, but three games under the Riot Forge label before 2024. This list opens with The Mageseeker: A League of Legends Story, the new action RPG from Digital Sun Games, responsible for the highly successful Moonlighter (2018). The Mageseeker puts you in the shoes of Silas, a fan-favorite mage of Demacia who is trying to lead a revolution against the kingdom that imprisoned him.

2023 will be a big year for Riot Games and League of Legends

Riot describes the game as a “high-bit 2D game”, in other words, in a pixel art style that uses all modern rendering techniques. Based on the trailer posted by Riot, The Mageseeker seems to draw inspiration from games like Hyper Light Drifter and Titan Souls. It will normally be available in the spring on PC and consoles.

Riot will release Convergence: A League of Legends Story later this summer. Double Stallion, the Montreal studio known for its work on Speed Brawl, has been working on the project since at least 2019. The game features Ekko, one of the League of Legends champions who appears in the Netflix anime series Arcane, in a 2D platformer. Since Ekko is at the center of this adventure, count on managing time to be able to solve the challenges and puzzles offered by the Convergence.

At least three new games announced

Finally, there will be Song of Nunu: A League of Legends Story. This spin-off is the work of Rime’s creator, Tequila Works. Usually it should arrive in autumn. Of the three games whose launch dates have been revealed by Riot, Song of Nunu is perhaps the one I’m most looking forward to, as Nunu and Willump are a great duo and Tequila Works has a very good resume. Convergence and Song of Nunu will be available on PlayStation 4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S and PC via Steam, GOG and the Epic Games Store.
