The Raid: Netflix is working on a remake of the action movie
Three of the greatest action movie directors are coming together to work on a remake of The Raid.
An American-style remake of The Raid will be directed by Patrick Hughes (Hitman’s Bodyguard, The Expendables 3, The Man from Toronto) with Michael Bay (Bad Boys, Transformers, Six Undergrounders), and also backed by XYZ Films (“Ticket Free Havoc, Dual”) for the Netflix streaming platform. For the original feature film, Gareth Evans will executive produce through Range Media Partners, with Patrick Hughes also co-writing the screenplay with James Beaufort.
This new version will be set in Philadelphia’s drug-infested Badlands, where an elite undercover DEA team climbs the cartel’s informant hierarchy to catch an elusive boss. “We are very excited about Patrick’s unique vision for this film. It’s a very original take on the subject that promises to pay homage to the original film, bringing a new approach and point of view that will chart its own course in the action genre,”the producers said.
