The Witcher 3 on PS5 and Xbox Series X: the next-gen version is not in “development hell”
CD Projekt RED claims that developing a next-gen version of The Witcher 3 isn’t as problematic as some media outlets claim.
During a recent conference call with investors, CD Projekt RED’s Senior Vice President of Business Development, Michal Nowakowski, assured that the development of the next generation of The Witcher 3 is not on the wrong track, despite the indefinite delay.: “I looked at the headlines that appeared here and there on the Internet., and I saw one that really caught my attention, which was “TW3 next-gen delayed indefinitely”which makes it look like the game is in some kind of “development hell”(an expression used to refer to hellish development cycles suffering from constant delays)). I would like to clarify that this is not the case. There have been many hints that we are going to release this new version next June or something like that. It’s not like that at all. ”
Faced with questions from some shareholders, Michal Nowakowski reiterated his remarks, clarifying that the players’ wait should not be too long: “All we’re saying is that we’ve taken over the development. The game will be completed by one of our teams. We estimate our working time, which requires a little research – that’s all we say. No one is saying that the game is delayed and that we are in for a monumental delay. That’s about all I can say about The Witcher 3 next generation, but I really want to highlight this fact. ”
Less than 20 developers are working on a new version of The Witcher 3.
CD Projekt RED CEO Adam Kiczynski also hinted that there isn’t much work to be done on the next-gen version of The Witcher 3 to complete the project, estimating the total number at around 15 people plus a few external support staff: our next game.”
