TikTok promotes digital wellbeing on its app
TikTok is expanding its digital wellbeing features before it can be required by law.
Social media and similar apps can be very helpful, but they are also highly addictive. Especially among young people. This is the TikTok case that teens can spend very long hours behind. It’s time to think about digital wellbeing. What the platform is doing today with the new.
TikTok Expands Its Digital Wellbeing Features
TikTok is currently implementing several new screen time controls that are designed to manage time spent on the app. With this update, the company is also adding a new integrated dashboard that will better track and analyze time spent in the app.
This dashboard will display various statistics, such as the time spent in the app, of course, but also when you most often open the app and how often it is opened. In addition, TikTok users will now be able to set usage time limits.
So far, the app has offered to check screen time that has expired with a certain daily limit. With these new settings, users can, for example, allow the app to remind them to “take a break”if it’s been open for a long time.
Before he can be legally bound to do so
These changes come as TikTok and several competitors are regularly criticized for the impact it has on teens. A few months ago, a bill was passed in the United States to strengthen research on social media addiction in order to introduce additional security measures to protect young users.
TikTok has already taken a step in this direction by imposing additional restrictions on users between the ages of 13 and 17. They will now see “digital wellness reminders”and invitations to reduce screen time if they spend more than 100 minutes on the app on the same day.
