Tokyo Vice: Detective Series in Japan with Ansel Elgort and Ken Watanabe

Two years after filming began, Tokyo Vice is gearing up for release on HBO Max.

Inspired by American journalist Jake Adelstein’s testimony about the Tokyo Metropolitan Police, the series, created and written by J.T. Rogers, follows the daily descent of a character played by American comedian Ansel Elgort (originally intended for Daniel Radcliffe) into the slums. capitals of the land of the rising sun of the late 1990s, where nothing and no one is what it seems. Note that Michael Mann directed the pilot and is an executive producer along with Alan Paul, Jake Adelstein, Ansel Elgort, Emily Gerson Saines, Brad Cain, Destin Daniel Cretton, Ken Watanabe, Caio Wasio and John Lesher.

Produced by Endeavor Content and WOWOW, Japan’s leading pay TV network, the HBO Max Original Tokyo Vice detective series will air on April 7 with three episodes, followed by two episodes a week through the end of the month. Ken Watanabe, Rinko Kikuchi, Rachel Keller, Ella Rumpf, Hideaki Ito, Shaw Kasamatsu and Tomohisa Yamashita round out the cast.
