Rugged Apple Watch Pro could have a flat display

Rugged Apple Watch Pro could have a flat display

Apple Watch Pro, the extreme sports model, is rumored to have an almost completely flat display instead of rounded edges.

  • What is happening? Apple’s high-end watch, tentatively dubbed “Apple Watch Pro”, is rumored to feature a near-flat screen for the first time.
  • Why care? This will be the first time the Apple Watch has a flat display. All models today have screens with slightly rounded corners.
  • What to do? It’s better to start saving money because it doesn’t seem like the Apple Watch Pro is going to be cheap, around $1,000 as a base price I think.

The rugged Apple Watch Pro could have a flatter display

The display will apparently not be completely flat, and Japanese blog Mac Otakara claims it will definitely be flatter than the Series 8.

All Apple Watch models today have screens with slightly curved edges. Mac Otakara’s report confirms source ShrimpApplePro, who said back in May that the rugged Apple Watch would come with a near-flat display.

In addition to the new look, the Apple Watch ruggedized model should have other exclusive features not found in the Apple Watch Series 8 family. For example, the device might have a redesigned titanium case for added protection. Read: The best screen protectors for Apple Watch

It is reported that it will have a larger battery and a large display with a diagonal of 1.99 inches. A body temperature sensor may also appear. On top of that, the Apple Watch Pro has to be considered the heaviest Apple device to wear on the wrist due to its larger 47mm case.

Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman believes that Apple will release three different watch families this year: in addition to the rugged model, the company is expected to update its low-cost Apple Watch SE and announce the Apple Watch Series 8 family.

How much will the Apple Watch Pro cost?

Whether you’re a fitness buff, someone who enjoys activities like cycling and hiking, or an extreme athlete, a rugged watch is definitely high on your priority list. And since the Apple Watch Pro is expected to replace the Apple Watch Edition family as Apple’s new high-end offering, we suspect it won’t come cheap.

Nothing is 100 percent until Tim Cook takes the stage, but don’t count on an Apple Watch Pro that costs less than a thousand dollars. If we had to bet, our money would be $1,000 as the starting price of the base Apple Watch Pro model.

When will the Apple Watch Pro be introduced?

Apple is hosting a “Far Out”event on September 7th to introduce the iPhone 14. The new watch usually generates interest at iPhone events, which means we should be learning about the Apple Watch Series 8 family, the next Apple Watch SE, and the aforementioned Apple Watch. Pro during the keynote, which starts at 10:00 AM PT / 1:00 PM ET.

Apple’s pre-recorded presentation will be streamed via the Apple Events microsite, YouTube, and the TV app.
