Sony PlayStation Plus gaming service pricing and tiers leaked
It appears that pricing information for the upcoming service from PlayStation may have been leaked ahead of time. VentureBeat is reporting pricing levels for the upcoming Game Pass-like PlayStation service, codenamed “Spartacus”.
The service appears to be merging PlayStation Plus with PS Now to offer users free monthly games as well as a solid game catalog, streaming and more. It sounds almost exactly like the Xbox Game Pass, but Sony seems to have a couple of unique offerings like classic games and game trials.
Apparently, there are 3 tiers in the new service, namely PS+ Essential, PS+ Extra, and PS+ Premium. PS+ Essential is just a standard PlayStation Plus service as it stands right now.
Leaked prices for the PlayStation project “Spartacus”
The $10 PS+ Essential gives players access to free monthly games. PS+ Extra at $13/month gives players access to free monthly games as well as a catalog of games.
PS+ Premium, the third and final tier, costs $16 per month and gives players access to monthly games, game catalog, streaming, classic games, and game trials. Streaming games are currently only available in select countries via PS Now, and it looks like PlayStation is turning Now into Spartacus.
One can only guess what “classic games”might mean, but it could be an additional catalog of old PS games available for download and not just for streaming. Game Trials is also a curious addition, as it could mean players can try out certain games from PlayStation Studios and make an informed purchasing decision.
