Leak at NVIDIA may indicate the development of a new Nintendo Switch

NVIDIA internal documents suggest a new Nintendo Switch project. DLSS enabled machine?

Nintendo has repeatedly denied that the Nintendo Switch Pro, or whatever it’s called, is in development. That being said, at the same time, there’s no doubt that Big N’s internal teams are thinking about what the next generation Switch could be. And perhaps this machine will be different enough to be called Switch 2 rather than Switch Pro.

NVIDIA Internal Documents Suggest New Nintendo Switch Project

Some of you may have heard about the recent cyberattack suffered by NVIDIA. A large number of confidential file documents were stolen and these files were published on the Internet. According to a new report from TechPowerUp that lists these files, we learn that one of them contains a file named NVN2 as well as a driver named NVNDLSS.

DLSS enabled machine?

For those who are wondering what these links mean, let’s say that NVN is an API used by various Switch programs, and DLSS is NVIDIA’s set of hardware enhancement and scaling technologies for real-time image deep learning. Interestingly, this isn’t the first time we’ve heard of a future switch that could benefit from DLSS, which only adds weight to rumors that a new switch will indeed be in the works.

It’s still possible that this model won’t see the light of day for a few years, and we wouldn’t be surprised to learn that Nintendo is just exploring the idea. At present, the Switch OLED model is the latest model and not very old. It’s hard to imagine Big N rushing to replace him. Therefore, we will take this new information with a pinch of salt, while keeping in mind that Nintendo teams are likely thinking about it.
