For many players, one of the most anticipated video games is Hideo Kojima’s Next Game. If that’s your case, you might be interested to know that a Death Stranding video seems to show what the next creation from his Kojima Productions studio could be.

The video in question was removed from the Streamable platform and featured a character resembling Mom from Death Stranding. The latter has been interpreted in a play by Margared Qualley. In the video, she is walking through dark corridors with a flashlight, followed by a menacing figure. Someone or something eventually catches up to her and a “Game Over”screen appears with the text “Game Hideo Kojima”and “Overdose”.

The presentation of this video is rather strange. An inset gameplay shot shows someone who appears to be playing as if they were a streamer on Twitch. The text “camera player 1” appears at the top of the screen, as during a technical test. The video also fits into a YouTube-like interface, indicating that it may have been saved to Google Drive. And even more strangely, this video was filmed by someone. A version of the video is then played on a tablet, which, judging by the very reflection on this screen, is being filmed behind-the-scenes for the second time by a shirtless man.

Really very strange. As Polygon explains, it is possible that this video is a fake, although putting together such content would require a lot of effort for a simple prank. Margaret Qualley’s character model is also very similar to that of Death Stranding, which could indicate that Overdose will be a direct sequel to Hideo Kojima’s latest game. It’s weird to see the name of the game’s creator pop up on the end game screen, but it’s likely more than that.

Whatever it is, Hideo Kojima has already officially and publicly teased his next project. And he will be present at the Game Awards, the next edition of which will be held in a month. He is currently developing the game in partnership with Microsoft, but a sequel to Death Stranding is also in development. If the rumors are true, Overdose will be Hideo Kojima’s first true horror game. The only horror project released by the creator of Metal Gear to date is PT with an infamous playable teaser that is no longer available. It was a test for Silent Hills, a project that was canceled due to Hideo Kojima’s difficult departure from Konami. To be continued!
