When you think of an MMORPG, a number of titles spontaneously come to mind. The first one is probably World of Warcraft. This is one that crosses centuries, longer than WoW, much less EVE Online. And the game still enjoys an incredible community. This may be easier today as the game can be played in a simple web browser.

EVE Online fans made their biggest dream come true last year when developer CCP announced EVE Anywhere, a browser-based space MMO streaming platform that needs no introduction. Now anyone can enjoy and play EVE Online from a browser, not just premium Omega subscribers. All you need to play is a web browser such as Chrome, Edge, Safari or Firefox and a reliable connection of at least 25 Mbps to launch you into a spatial battle. EVE Anywhere is currently being rolled out in the US and select European countries such as Germany, Switzerland and the UK. Other countries will be added later. Let’s hope that soon France will have the right to do so.

CCP also explains that it relies on Intel technology to distribute its game to players on very high bandwidth servers. While die-hard EVE fans aren’t going to give up their PCs anytime soon, EVE Anywhere allows them to play anytime they want while they’re away from home (but not at work, huh!). The platform can also serve as a gate for players with an aging car. After all, even a Chromebook can run EVE Anywhere.
