Windows has a new tool to record webcam and screen at the same time
With Clipchamp, you have everything you need to record your screen and your webcam. A very long awaited and comprehensive new tool for Windows 10 and 11.
Don’t worry about outdated tools like Xbox Game Bar or any third party apps. Windows now has a free tool to record your screen and webcam at the same time. Clipchamp Video Editor is natively integrated into the latest version of Windows 11 (2022 Update), but users of Windows 10 or later can download it and enjoy it. And you don’t even have to install it, in truth you can just use the web app.
With Clipchamp, you have everything you need for screen recording and webcam.
Don’t be intimidated by the fact that Clipchamp is an editor full of templates, effects, transitions and more. You don’t need all this. So to speak, the best functionality is hidden.
After launching the app and creating an account (your Microsoft account works fine), click on the “Record something”button on the main page to enter recording mode. You will then see various preset configurations, you can choose to record only the screen, only the webcam, or both at the same time. When you record both, the app creates video files for each stream, which you can then edit to your liking. You can record up to 30 minutes at a time, but the number of recordings is unlimited.
After selecting the recording option, you will see a floating bar at the bottom of the screen. You will also have a preview of your webcam if you have selected the webcam recording option.
A very long awaited and very complete new tool for Windows 10 and 11.
On the floating panel, you can adjust the camera, microphone, and other settings. Click the red “Record”button and choose what you want to record (full screen, window or browser tab). If you want to enable sound, check the “Share system sound”box. When you’re done, click the Share button to start recording.
Click the Stop button when you’re done. You will see a preview. Click on the “Save and Modify”button. The app will then automatically save the raw video to your Downloads folder. If it’s good for you, go to that folder and share your file.
But you have to take the time to get to grips with the editor, that’s what Clipchamp is all about. You can do whatever you want, add effects, other videos or images, music, transitions, etc. There are many tools, they are very effective, and their use is intuitive. When you’re done, use the Export tool to export the recording in Full HD, 720p for social media, or GIF (4K option not available yet).
Please wait while Clipchamp processes your file. After that, it will be automatically saved in your Downloads folder. From there, you can do whatever you want with it.
