Our team members have endured some truly terrible iOS updates in the past, some of which have been publicly launched with bugs, buggy features, and a number of annoying issues that have rendered the OS nearly unusable. We are pleased to announce that the latest iOS 16 developer betas and public betas are not such releases.

Apple released the developer beta of iOS 16 after wrapping up its WWDC keynote on June 6th. Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman said ahead of WWDC that the internal seeds of the iOS 16 beta are “a bit buggy.”He suspected that because of this, the public beta version of iOS 16 could arrive later than usual.

With everything going smoothly, the first public beta of a major iOS software update comes along with the second developer beta and includes the same features as it.

But Gurman was right: the first public beta of iOS 16 came out in July, along with the third developer beta. So yes, the iOS 16 beta initially contained more bugs than some of the previous releases. But that doesn’t mean in any way that iOS 16 might arrive with a bunch of pesky teething issues when it goes public this fall.

Should I install the iOS 16 beta?

On the contrary, iOS 16 Developer Beta 6 and its corresponding Public Beta 4 are now stable for most people. However, you should avoid installing the iOS 16 beta in your daily driver even if the software is 100% running smoothly.

As stable as the iOS 16 beta is, it’s still pre-release software. Thus, there is no guarantee that all your favorite applications will continue to work without failure, that the battery will be in order, and that you will not lose data. So try it, just be sure to use an additional device for this.
