Nothing Phone (1) video shows glowing back panel components ahead of July 12th launch

The Nothing Phone (1) launch event is scheduled for July 12th. The company will be unveiling its first smartphone globally, and before the official event, Nothing unveiled the back design of the device. Yesterday, the design of the back panel of the smartphone was presented, emphasizing the transparent shell. Nothing also hosted an in-person event for select media in Switzerland to showcase the phone (1).

A video posted by YouTuber Rafael Zeyer shows a Nothing smartphone stored in a transparent glass box. It also highlights some of the phone’s unique design elements, including some components that glow and light up. Let’s take a look at the Nothing Phone (1) design details, specifications and other details known so far.

Nothing Phone Design Demonstrated (1)

Nothing Phone (1) will be officially released worldwide on July 12th. Before the launch, the company showed off the design of the device in Switzerland. The video shared by Zeier shows off the back of the phone – something the company also showed in its official renders.

The key new design detail shown in the video is glowing lights that light up in certain areas on the back of the device. The indicators are located around the camera module, in the upper right corner and at the bottom.

It is unknown what causes these lights. One suggestion might be that these are notification lights that light up whenever you receive a message, call, or some other notification.

We have seen many smartphones in the past offering such a feature. Some smartphones use display edges while others come with dedicated hardware. For example, the OnePlus 10 Pro and Samsung Galaxy S22 Ultra light up the edges of the display when the user receives a notification. Oppo, on the other hand, launched the Reno 7 series and F21 Pro series with its Orbit Light, where the ring around the camera sensor glows upon receiving a notification.

It would be interesting to see if Nothing allows users to change the highlight color, like some of the competition’s offerings. We will have to wait for an official announcement to get confirmation on the same.

Nothing Phone (1) will debut on July 12th. It will be equipped with a Snapdragon chipset, support for wireless charging, and Android 12-based Nothing operating system out of the box. The specs of the device have also been leaked. You can click here to learn more about the same.
