Violet allows jailbreakers to apply custom backgrounds to the Siri Welcome Screen and Springboard
For those who like the ultimate post-jailbreak iPhone customization, a recently released free tweak called Violet from iOS developer MatoiDev is sure to grab attention.
Heavily inspired by the Astolfo jailbreak customization from now-departed jailbreak developer Alexa, Violet can apply any character image you want to the Siri interface, in addition to customization options for both Siri and SpringBoard.
In the /r/jailbreak release message, the developer says that Violet is meant to be “a maid for your iPhone”, and that it was originally intended only for a small circle of people, but is now finally open to the general public. download.
As you can see in the example screenshots above, anime characters in maid costumes appear instead of a Siri sphere when calling the iPhone’s built-in voice assistant. Obviously, you don’t have to use anime characters if you don’t like them, as the tweak supports using any image of your choice.
A separate image can be applied to the so-called welcome screen – the first thing you see after unlocking the device. This will be configured in the SpringBoard settings.
Once installed, users will find a dedicated settings panel for Violet in the Settings app, where they can tweak a number of options to their liking:
The main settings panel is divided into two separate sections, which we will describe below:
springboard
The following options are available in the SpringBoard section:
- Enable or disable the use of Violet on SpringBoard
- Turn on the background blur style and adjust the intensity using the slider.
- Enable the use of a custom image for Violet and select one from the camera roll.
- Enable full mode
- Adjust horizontal and vertical alignment independently
Siri
The following options are available in the Siri section:
- Enable or disable the use of Violet with Siri
- Turn on the background blur style and adjust the intensity using the slider.
- Hide or show Siri sphere (sphere)
- Enable the use of a custom image for Violet and select one from the camera roll.
- Adjust horizontal and vertical alignment independently
At the bottom of the main settings panel is a Respring button that users can use after making all the necessary changes to Violet.
Violet is not currently hosted in the main repository, so it will need to be installed manually either with Filza or with a package manager application like Sileo. It can be downloaded for free from the developer’s GitHub page, which also discusses the dependencies required for installation. Jailbroken iOS 14 devices are currently supported.
