Malware hidden in YouTube video descriptions for Valorant cheats
Malware hidden in YouTube video descriptions for cheating systems on Valorant.
To exist, malware must get onto the machines of its victims. This is a prerequisite. To do this, the developers of this malware today have to dodge. Use deception to bypass the various protections that exist in existing systems on the one hand, and use deception to trick victims into believing that the resources they want to access are legitimate. And there all means are good. Here is a new example from the world of video games and Valorant in particular.
Malware hidden in YouTube video descriptions
Not everyone is particularly good at aiming in video games. Playing a shooter can easily turn into a frustrating experience if you end up losing most of your games. In fact, it’s no surprise that people are looking for cheats to get an edge in the game.
This is the case with Valorant. Attackers are currently targeting players looking for Valorant hacks by hiding malware in the description of their YouTube videos, according to a new report from Bleeping Computer. These videos are made solely to attract players who are looking for aimbots, specifically with a link in the description that should lead players to the cheats in question.

However, instead of giving them what they ask for, the links cause Redline malware to be downloaded, which is then installed on the computers of users who run the file. For those who don’t know, Redline is one of the most prevalent malware today in the category of stealing passwords and credit card information from browsers.
The malware in question can also access crypto wallets, as well as the computer in general, to steal identities, addresses, etc. While YouTube has certain rules and verification processes in place, it seems to be fairly easy to bypass them. In other words, the next time you see a link in the YouTube description, pay attention, especially if that link forces you to download an executable.
