All the best new features in Firefox 106
Available recently, Firefox 106 brings its fair share of new features. A small preview of what to expect.
Mozilla recently released the latest version of its Firefox 106 web browser, which comes with some exciting new features. The most notable of these is by far the (long-awaited) PDF viewer. If you use Firefox or are tempted to do so, here’s what to expect from this new version of the browser.
Annotate your PDFs in Firefox
You can edit your PDFs directly in Firefox. The browser allows you to fill out forms in PDF files, add your signature and annotations. This, of course, is very far from the power of a dedicated application, but it is sufficient for most users, especially for those who do not want another application when the built-in tools in the browser work very well. Whether you need to sign a contract or fill out a survey or two, Firefox’s own PDF editor is great.
Text recognition on Mac
This new version of Firefox now supports OCR on macOS. This integration allows you to copy text from images even when using Firefox. This way you don’t have to upload an image to extract the text and do whatever you want with it. In addition, this feature is compatible with Mac VoiceOver, which allows you to read text on images aloud.
You must have macOS 10.15 or later installed to use this feature.
Pin private browsing mode to the taskbar
Firefox 106 also makes it easier to access private browsing. You can now pin a shortcut to launch a Firefox Private Browsing session to the Windows taskbar.
Try the new look of Firefox
Firefox now makes it easy to sync your browsing data across devices. If you use Firefox on your smartphone and computer, you can use Firefox View to find open tabs on other devices, as well as recently closed tabs.
After installing Firefox 106, you can click the Firefox icon in the top left corner of your screen to access the Firefox view. This page also allows you to use the new themes launched in this release. From there, you can choose colors that suit you, your personality, or your current mood.
