You can get the blob emoji back on your android device.
Even though Google wanted them gone, nag emojis are still available on Android. And they also exist in stickers. Here’s how to bring them back to life.
Android “blot”emoticons have always been popular among users. Sometimes even more than Apple. They’re cute, funny, unique, and unfortunately Google removed them in 2017 in an attempt to make emojis more formulaic and human-like. This is very unfortunate. But if you have an Android smartphone, they can be restored to use as before.
Even if Google wanted them gone, nag emojis are still available on Android.
First you need to install the Gboard virtual keyboard. Of course, if you have a Google Pixel, this is already done. Then go to Gboard Settings, then Emoji, Stickers & GIFs and activate the Emoji stickers. If this setting is enabled, there are several ways to bring blobs back to life.
The first was detailed in this post on the r/Google subreddit. She uses Gboard’s emoji combo tool to bring back the icons you love so much. For those who don’t know, an emoji “combiner”is a feature that allows you to combine two emojis to create a new one that doesn’t normally exist. For example, you can enter a smiling face and a crying face to create a new face, or an angry face with a dazed face to get an angry and dazed face. Very cool!
But what many don’t know is that if you combine an emoji with a star emoji (✨), Google is not going to combine them. Instead, it will show you the version of the emoji you just typed in, along with some recommended drops on the right. So just open the emoji keyboard, select the desired emoji and then star emoji. This doesn’t work with all emojis, you must be spoiled for choice.
Blob emoji also exist in stickers.
The star method isn’t the only way to reintegrate blobs into your messages. Android Authority offers an alternative: open the emoji keyboard, tap the stickers icon at the bottom and then the + icon to search for more packages. Scroll down and you should find “The Blobs Live On”and “Long Live the Blob”. Click “Add”for both.
From now on, whenever you want, you can click on one of the packages to have a wide selection of animated drops. You can send messages and photos with these successful drops to anyone!
