Warner Bros. Discovery wants to bring Harry Potter to the small screen with HBO
A seven-season Harry Potter television series based on J.K. Rowling’s novels could soon be produced by HBO for Warner Bros. discovery.
Instead of one or more spin-offs like the Fantastic Beasts movies, Warner Bros. should change after the merger with Discovery+. Each will be based on a book (Philosopher’s Stone, Chamber of Secrets, Prisoner of Azkaban, Goblet of Fire, Order of the Phoenix, Half-Blood Prince, Relics of Death) that foreshadowed an ongoing franchise that would span several years.
The future of Harry Potter… in the series?
While British writer J.K. Rowling will retain some degree of creative involvement with the series, she will not be its main creator or even showrunner. Note that Warner Bros has long sought to create a television series about Harry Potter, rumors about the project appeared in January 2021, before the acquisition of WarnerMedia by Discovery in 2022. and ideas are confirmed by everyone.
For reference, the eight Harry Potter films have grossed over $7.7 billion at the global box office, popularizing the license worldwide. Although the original book and film series is long over, the property remains a dominant cultural force, spawning theme park rides, a hit Broadway production (Harry Potter and the Cursed Child) and the recent hit video game Hogwarts Legacy.
