WhatsApp no ​​longer removes signature when forwarding media

WhatsApp’s latest update now saves the title when sending media files such as images, photos, animated GIFs, various documents, and the like.

• What is happening? WhatsApp, owned by Meta, has changed the way it handles signed media forwarding. Now the application will save any signatures when sending images, videos, GIFs and documents.
• Why care? WhatsApp removed signatures from media files they sent, not ideal if the signature was supposed to convey important information to the recipient.

WhatsApp now saves title when forwarding media

You can now keep your signature when sending multimedia content such as images, videos, GIFs, and documents using WhatsApp. This requires WhatsApp version 22.23.77.

The changelog accompanying the update only mentions bug fixes, but WABetaInfo was able to confirm that captions are no longer removed when transferring media. The site also mentions that “some lucky ones”might get this little tweak after installing the previous 22.23.76 update.

How to check if you have this feature

Like all new WhatsApp features, this feature is being rolled out to users in stages. Some already have it, but if you are not one of them, you will need to wait for a new update in the App Store. To check if you have this feature, just send an image with a caption to someone or yourself.

If this feature is enabled for your account, you should notice a new view at the bottom. Of course, this change doesn’t mean that all media being sent should suddenly include a header, not at all. Just remove the header before forwarding the message if you don’t want to forward the header along with the media.

How to update WhatsApp for iPhone to the latest version

To update your copy of the app, follow the App Store link to bring WhatsApp to the store page, and then click the Update button. If you don’t see this option, your iPhone has already updated WhatsApp to the latest version.

If you want to see the version number of WhatsApp currently installed on your iPhone, open the app and tap the “Settings”tab, then select “Help”from the list. The current installed version number is displayed at the top of the interface.
