WhatsApp Finally Supports Picture-in-Picture Video Calling on iOS

The latest version of WhatsApp for iOS adds picture-in-picture functionality along with a few other exciting new features.

Messaging apps must constantly roll out new features to offer their users an even smoother and more successful experience. This includes optimizing existing features as much as possible, adding features to make daily use of the service easier, and many other aspects. Today there is a new WhatsApp update, with a novelty that should please many users.

The latest version of WhatsApp for iOS has a picture-in-picture feature.

Meta just started rolling out a major update to WhatsApp for iOS. Recently discovered by 9to5Mac, WhatsApp version 23.3.77 finally adds picture-in-picture (PiP) mode for video calls. This is a feature that iOS users of the Meta messaging app have been asking for for a long time. According to The Verge, it has been in testing since the end of last year.

So, just like the PiP modes on other platforms, WhatsApp will shrink the video window of your call when you switch to another app, allowing you to do something else while still watching the person you’re chatting with. If you can’t access PiP right away, Meta says that, as usual, the feature and other improvements introduced in this release are rolled out gradually. The version will be available to everyone “in the coming weeks”.

As well as a number of other interesting novelties

As for the other features of this version, know that WhatsApp 23.3.77 also allows you to add signatures to documents you send through the app. In addition, the group chat settings have been slightly reworked in Meta. You can now add more character topics and descriptions to more accurately describe what your conversations are for. There’s also a new option to create an avatar for your profile picture and stickers.
