Wild Hearts: A game about hunting monsters in a fantasy feudal Japan.
The new Monster Hunter rival from Electronic Arts, Koei Tecmo and Omega Force.
Developed by Japanese studio Omega Force, Wild Hearts differs from Capcom’s Monster Hunter license with a mechanic called Karakuri, which is described as a complex mechanism based on ancient and forgotten technology. These include things like giant fantasy hammers, ballistae, and bombs that can cripple, stun, or damage Kemonos, gigantic beasts that blend into their surroundings. Players will also have a variety of firearms at their disposal, including transforming swords, bows and arrows, muskets, and wagasa (Japanese umbrellas) to help them take down giant boars, monkeys, squirrels, and other mutant monsters found in Azuma, an imaginary land inspired by feudal Japan.

Yosuke Hayashi, Executive Vice President of Koei Tecmo, said:
Wild Hearts opens the door to a fantasy world that is as wild as it is breathtakingly beautiful. With Wild Hearts, we aimed to represent evolution, hybridization, and transcribe the threat posed by chemonos, and to create a game where crafting was at the heart of the experience. Basically, we were looking to redefine the codes of the monster hunting game. We’ve put a lot of thought into designing our karakuri to seamlessly integrate into combat, and we can’t wait for players to learn how this powerful mechanic will be used to defeat these giant beasts and advance through this universe.
