World of Warcraft: Dragonflight will improve the representation of non-binary characters
The World of Warcraft: Dragonflight expansion will introduce a number of new features to the iconic WoW game, as well as allowing the game to join the roster of games with a more inclusive character generator. Wowhead and Polygon are reporting that the game’s latest alpha is removing gender options in the character creation tool. So, instead of the traditional “Male”and “Woman”options that we often see in these kinds of instruments, we now find “Body 1″and “Body 2″sections. If these two options actually take on the same characteristics as before, it is now possible to form a character in a non-binary genre, so to speak, without the ambiguity of the language.

Wowhead has also discovered a code hinting that in a future version you will be able to choose your pronoun, which will allow other players to refer to your character according to your preferences. Game director Ion Hazzikostas also suggested in an interview that it would soon be possible to choose your character’s voice. However, in this alpha version, such things are not offered.
However, these changes are not as significant as one might think. For example, in the alpha it is not possible to have facial and chest hair on the same character. Either way, this should make World of Warcraft more appealing to non-binary, transgender, and other players who may not like this limited representation of their characters.
