YouTube: Picture in Picture Coming to iOS

YouTube’s picture-in-picture mode is coming to iOS. The rollout has begun, but we’ll have to wait a bit.

The biggest features are not always the most useful in everyday life, or at least not always the most important. There are plenty of examples. On your favorite services, you probably have a small feature that you cannot do without. YouTube’s picture-in-picture, for example, might fall into this category. It’s finally coming to iOS.

YouTube’s picture-in-picture mode is coming to iOS

YouTube will indeed soon have a picture-in-picture feature in the iOS app. The deployment has begun. Those who were able to install the latest version of the app can now watch videos in a small window on top of everyone else while using another app on their iPhone or iPad. It is high time.

This has truly been one of the most requested features of YouTube on iOS. It is currently only available to users residing in the United States. In the rest of the world, only users who subscribe to YouTube Premium have access to picture-in-picture. This feature has been available on Android for a long time. Google hopes to be able to offer this feature to iOS users around the world “by August”.

The rollout has begun, but we’ll have to wait a bit

Like the Android version, a picture-in-picture window will appear when you exit the app in full screen mode. You can move the little player anywhere on the screen to keep doing what you want in another app when said window gets in the way.

In any case, it’s quite curious that this feature has been on iOS for so long, but as we often say, better late than never. Personally, I don’t use it, but I have no doubt that picture-in-picture will be very useful for many iOS users. A little more patience and soon you will be able to enjoy it.

it’s happening! ✨ picture-in-picture is slowly rolling out for YouTube on iPhone & iPad, & just like on Android, will be avail to:

Premium members globally &
non-Premium members in US (non-music only)
