YouTube is testing emoji reactions for timestamps, enough to go even further with reactions.

On platforms such as SoundCloud, you can see comments related to the song and specific sections of the song. This is very convenient in that you may like one or another section of the header and less than another. You can then leave a comment at that exact moment so that the artist and other users of the artist can understand exactly what you are talking about. This kind of comment can also apply to videos. YouTube is starting to do this and is now moving on.

YouTube has actually started testing a similar feature, synced comments (still in beta), in other words, a comment associated with a specific timestamp. Today, the platform is announcing a new feature in the same vein. It’s about being able to comment on a specific point in a video again, but this time for users who don’t want to leave a text comment, a simple emoji reaction can be given.

What to go even further in reactions

This reaction feature is similar to what Facebook already offers on its platform, allowing users to react to messages without typing, such as when they don’t know what to say. According to YouTube’s statement, “If you watch a video that is supported by this test, you can react and see other viewers’ reactions by opening the video’s comment section and going to the reaction panel.”

Reactions are anonymous, which means it’s impossible to know who left what reaction at what point in the video, but this can be useful for those who watch the video and would like to quickly and easily jump to the most interesting moments.

While this is only a test, no one knows if YouTube will roll out this feature to everyone, much less when. To be continued!
