Xiaomi MiUI 13 launched: here are all the new features

Smartphone maker Xiaomi has unveiled the latest version of its customizable user interface (UI), MiUI 13. The new software was launched alongside the Xiaomi 12 smartphone in China and will soon roll out to the company’s other devices. It is based on Google’s Android 12 platform and brings various optimizations and changes to the Xiaomi platform. The new version of the software also includes the Mi Sans font, which will help give the platform a new look to some extent. The company also said that the software improves the privacy and security of your device.

Xiaomi MiUI 13 features

The company’s launch event in China is still ongoing, so some details are yet to be revealed. However, for now, we know that Xiaomi claims that the new software will make devices 52% smoother than the previous MiUI 12.5 software. The update will also add widgets to the platform, as well as a new power-saving mode and RAM booster that will help improve device performance, at least on paper.

In addition, the user interface will also allow users to select a specific color theme for your device, which will be applied to widgets, menus, and more. The background color can also change dynamically depending on the image that opens on the screen, which is a clear sign that Xiaomi is also using Google’s material design system from Android. The company also announced a tablet version of the software called MiUI 13 Pad, which is very similar to the operating Apple iPadOS system. Like Apple’s former Force Touch feature, tapping and holding an app icon opens up some quick actions on the MiUI 13 Pad. Like the software version for smartphones, MiUI 13 Pad will also have certain security improvements for tablets.

Which phones will receive MiUI 13?

According to a Twitter post, the MIUI 13 software will be released on Xiaomi 12 Pro, Xiaomi 12, Xiaomi 11 Pro, Xiaomi 11 Ultra, and Xiaomi 11. The 11 series is sold under the Mi 11 brand. Reports say that the software will also be rolled out to Mi Mix 4, Mi 11 Ultra, Mi 11 Pro and Redmi K40. Xiaomi Mi Pad Pro 5G, Mi Pad 5 Pro and Mi Pad 5 will also receive new software.
