BGMI MSP Underdog Cup Season 1 Concludes: Team Daku Family Wins Rs 20,000 as Champion

Last month, MSP Gaming announced a new event called BGMI MSP Underdog Cup Season 1 in India with a prize pool of Rs 50,000. The main goal of the tournament is to give aspiring BGMI esports players an opportunity to prove their skills and make a name for themselves in the IGC.

The BGMI MSP Underdog Cup started on April 18, 2022 with over 1,000 underdog teams registered. A total of 1,000 teams competed in the open qualifiers, with the top players advancing to the quarter-finals as well as the semi-finals. The event witnessed a wild and powerful BGMI performance from the country’s amateur teams.

The tournament was well organized as the teams showed great support and battled for the ultimate glory of winning the tournament. After such a fast-paced game, the top 16 teams advanced to the MSP Underdog Cup Grand Final.

The grand final of this event for outsiders took place on May 9 and 10, 2022. My Smart Price streamed the highlights of this event live on the official MSP Gaming YouTube channel. Here is the list of teams that made it to the MSP Underdog Cup Finals.

Winners and prize-winners of the MSP UnderDog Cup

  1. Team Daku Family – 103 points (59 finishes)
  2. Team Expert Esports – 95 points (48 finishes)
  3. D3VIL Esports – 92 points (43 finishes)

The Daku Family team was exceptional with a total of 59 finishes and 103 points (after Day 2). Thanks to their monumental gameplay, Team Daku Family became the MSP UDC champion along with the lion’s share of the prize pool. They were rewarded with Rs 20,000 as prize money for the winners and Rs 5,000 as an MVP award.

The team’s IGL Hawkeye, a 22-year-old Dibrugarh University BCA graduate, has been playing in BGMI (formerly known as PUBG Mobile) competitions for the past two and a half years. After learning about the event via Instagram, he opened up to MSP expressing his joy over the event with the following statements:

“We thank MSP for giving us the opportunity to showcase our skill set on such a huge platform. The management is friendly and the casting was also excellent. I look forward to tournaments from MSP.”

Team Expert Esports finished second in the points table with 95 points, placing them second in the tournament. The team was awarded a cash prize of Rs 15,000. Lal Singh Bhati, owner of Expert Esports, is a real soldier from Rajasthan. In response to their position at MSP UDC, the team expressed their joy with the following statements about MSP:

“Such a good underdog event is rare to see. Very good MSP server flow control
and everything is very good. We are completely satisfied with this event. We look forward to more events like this.”

D3VILS ESPORTS became the third-place (second-place) team on the points table after finishing Day 2 with 92 points. As a reward, the team received a prize pool of INR 10,000. Due to their success, the team spoke to MSP games about organizing an event that aims to help underdogs rise to the IGC. Roshan Singh of D3VIL esports, passionate about esports and gaming, stated:

“The MSP Underdog Tournament was hosted by our manager and it was a great experience in the MSP Underdog Tournament, the management was very nice and they run a well thought out tournament, we hope they do more of these tournaments and thanks to MSP org to provide opportunities for outsiders in eSports.

Most of the players who have competed in the MSP UDC aspire to become professional BGMI esports players and this event proved to be a good one for them. The event has become the best competition for outsiders who want to make a name for themselves in the industry by showing their talent. With such great reviews, it’s clear that the organizers have done their job of providing such a good opportunity for casual players.
